In Tupi-Guarani, a language spoken in the Amazon River basin, the word "tipiak" describes the white milky juice from the cassava or manioc root, from which the tapioca starch is made.
This is used as an ingredient in sauces, soups and desserts.
Every year, Tipiak produces several thousand tons of granulated tapioca in its Saint-Aignan de Grand-Lieu factory (France). Tipiak is the leading European manufacturer of tapioca.
